Drunk Suffolk Man, 24, Found Passed Out In Driver Seat, Police Say

An intoxicated man was found passed out behind the wheel in a Greenport parking lot with his foot on the gas, causing it to smoke and overheat, police said.

Police in Southold received a report at approximately 10:36 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, of a vehicle parked in the Adams Street parking lot with the engine accelerating and the driver, 24-year-old Greenport resident Walter Alvizures-Gomez passed out in the front seat.

According to police, responding officers found Alvizures-Gomez passed out with his foot on the accelerator, causing the vehicle to overheat.

Alvizures-Gomez was removed from the vehicle, was found to be intoxicated and was arrested. Alvizures-Gomez was charged with DWI, operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content greater than .08 percent, operating a motor vehicle without a license, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on a highway.
